Halloween and Octoberfest/Oktoberfest
I was a beer wench for Octoberfest this year and since it's so close to Halloween, it's my costume too.
I modified a Butterick Pattern (http://butterick.mccall.com/b3906-products-2939.php?page_id=385) to make my own *less slutty* version of a german dirndl dress/beer wench costume.
The costume was a big hit and I structured it so it can be re-purposed into other costumes in the future if I want to be something else. The petticoat of the dress is long, but is stitched up to be shorter and the trimming on the vest are only tacked down so they can be removed. I could easily let the petticoat down, sew another over-skirt, and change the trim to be anything in that genre of costume - pirate, renaissance lady, irish lass... it's all basically the same costume base.

Occupy Protests and Lewis Black: Rules of Enragement
One of my favorite Lewis Black specials/CD's.
It's still so relevant in times where we are seeing a global impact of corporate greed unchecked.
I recommend the whole show, but here is a piece that comes to mind each time I hear about the Occupy protests. No, not the personal ball washer piece. The one where he talks about the 3 Adelphia ceo's stealing a billion dollars from the company and spending 13 million of it and building a golf course in their back yard, that he was surprised that when the employees found out about the greed of 3 people didn't "rise up as one and slay them."
I think this is america and the rest of the world starting to "rise up and slay them." Thank god people are starting to pay attention to the world around them.

Fantasy Football: End Zone Tiny Dancer
This all girl league is fun. For my first time fantasy football-ing, I'm in 3rd and it's week 6, so I'm pretty happy about that. I just added my logo to match my team name. ("As in... "Hold me closer end zone tiny dancer"... sing it.)
